Famous for its world-renowned Shakespeare festival and charming architecture, Stratford is oozing with a timeless personality and whimsical vibes. Situated on the edge of the Avon River, this small city offers endless streets to explore on foot. There are year-round LGBTQ+ events including tons of fun stuff to do during Pride month. This town takes its theater and art very seriously. Between the months of May and October, you can enjoy anything from Shakespeare to Sondheim while staying in theater-themed B&Bs, get backstage tours, and meet the performers!
With theater comes the gays. This is a very LGBTQ+-friendly area, offering a safe and inclusive space around every corner. Though there isn't a specific gayborhood per se, it's not uncommon to see pride flags in the majority of storefronts and blowing on flag poles all over town. Downtown and the Festival areas are certainly going to have a higher concentration of queer folks and events.
Visit in the summer and enjoy all of the beauty and friendliness that Stratford has to offer. The Pride Fest is full of fun activities and local flair, and all summer long you can enjoy: Queer themed trivia nights, an LGBTQ+ Pride Market, and of course drag upon drag upon drag. Don't miss it!
This is an incredibly liberal and inclusive city, but just like any small town, there are bound to be a few bad apples. This is a very safe place for the LGBTQ+ community and you'll have a wonderful time no matter what you decide to do!
